About Springfield Photographic Society

The Springfield Photographic Society was founded in 1936 as a non-profit organization. The membership consists of people from the photographic novice up to the professional who all have the love of photography in common.

Meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from September through May where members come together to enjoy one another's company, discuss photographic techniques, and engage in friendly conversation. The new location for club meetings is the Reeds Landing Retirement Community located at 807 Wilbraham Road, in Springfield, Massachusetts. Meetings are scheduled to begin at 7:30 P.M. and typically end between 9:00 - 9:30 P.M.

Club activites include monthly programs on one of the Wednesdays and intra-club competitons on the opposite Wednesday. The programs are often instructional in nature focusing on a particular aspect of photography and are intended to entertain and / or educate members in the art and science of photography. Competition nights provide members with an opportunity to submit photograpic works for viewing, judging, and critique by other club members.

The Springfield Photographic Society is also a member club of the New England Camera Club Council (NECCC). The NECCC hosts a major photographic conference annually at the University of Massachusett in Amherst, Massacusetts and guests are always welcome.
